Mataram, Indonesia — August 23, 2026. The Head of the Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Prof. Dr. Harlita, M.Si., participated in the Annual Meeting of the Indonesian Biology Education Consortium (KPBI) and the Indonesian Association of Biology Educators and Researchers (HPPBI), held at Universitas Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, from August 21–23, 2026.

The annual forum brought together approximately 70 participants from Biology Education programs and related institutions across Indonesia. This year’s meeting carried the theme “Transforming SDGs-Oriented Biology Learning to Strengthen the Resilience of Biology Education,” highlighting the need for Biology Education to respond to global challenges through adaptive, sustainable, and innovative learning. Discussing the Future of Biology Education

The Annual Meeting featured a range of academic and professional activities, including a National Seminar, KPBI management meeting, curriculum and learning outcome workshops, Scientific Forum, teacher development workshops, community engagement activities, and networking sessions. (HPPBI)

The academic discussions addressed strategic issues in Biology Education, including the reconstruction of Biology Education curricula, SDGs-oriented learning, teacher competency development, study program accreditation, and assessment of graduate learning outcomes. These discussions provided opportunities for participants to exchange experiences and share best practices in managing and developing Biology Education programs.

The forum also emphasized the importance of strengthening Biology Education so that learning goes beyond conceptual mastery and equips students with competencies to respond to environmental, health, social, technological, and sustainability challenges.

Strengthening Collaboration among Biology Education Programs

Prof. Dr. Harlita’s participation represents the Biology Education Study Program FKIP UNS’s engagement in a national academic network that brings together study program leaders, educators, researchers, and practitioners in Biology Education.

Participation in the KPBI–HPPBI Annual Meeting provides an opportunity for UNS to contribute to and learn from discussions on curriculum development, quality improvement, educational innovation, research, community engagement, and professional development. It also creates opportunities to strengthen institutional networks and explore future collaboration with Biology Education programs and related organizations across Indonesia.

The 2026 meeting further demonstrated the role of professional academic networks in responding collectively to developments in education and the demands of sustainable development. (KPBI)
