    Forest Areas with Special Purposes (KHDTK) Mount Bromo, is a forest area devoted to educational and research purposes in Karanganyar Regency. Mount Bromo KHDTK was originally a Limited production forest area under the management of Perum Perhutani Central Java Regional Division and since April 2018, the Bromo Forest area has been confirmed as an educational and research forest whose management is submitted to Sebelas Maret University Surakarta.   • Bogor Botanical Garden

    Bogor Botanical Garden is a large botanical garden located in Bogor City, Indonesia. The garden is located in the center of Bogor city and adjacent to the Bogor Palace presidential palace complex. It covers 87 hectares and has a collection of 15,000 trees and plants. Bogor’s geographical location which experiences rain almost every day even in the dry season makes this garden a favorable location for the cultivation of tropical plants. Bogor Botanical Garden has a very diverse collection of plants, from those native to Indonesia to those from various parts of the world. There are also a wide variety of rare and endemic Indonesian plants, such as orchids, bamboo, palms, and other ornamental plants. The botanical garden also has fish ponds and lotus ponds that add to its natural beauty.   • Indrokilo Botanical Garden, Boyolali, Central Java
    Indrokilo Botanical Garden is located in Boyolali, Central Java. This garden was created in collaboration between the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) and the Boyolali Regency Government. Indrokilo Botanical Garden Boyolali has an area of 8.9 hectares. There is a cultural site adjacent to the Indrokilo Botanical Garden, namely the Indrokilo cemetery. Indrokilo Botanical Garden Boyolali has the theme “Lowland Rainforest Plants of Eastern Java”. The number of collections that have been planted to date reaches 1,683 specimens of 368 species. This area can be used for practicum and research on: Diversity and Classification of Cryptogamae, Diversity and Classification of Phanerogamae, Ecology, Conservation, etc.

  • Sangiran Ancient Human Museum
    Sangiran is an archaeological museum located in Kalijambe, Sragen Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. The museum is adjcent to the Sangiran ancient fossil site, which is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Sangiran site has an area of 56 km² covering three sub-districts in Sragen (Gemolong, Kalijambe, and Plupuh) and Gondangrejo sub-district which is included in Karanganyar Regency. The Sangiran site is located within the Sangiran Dome area which is part of the Solo depression, at the foot of Mount Lawu (17 km from Solo). The Sangiran Museum and its archaeological site, in addition to being an interesting tourist attraction, is also the most important and complete research arena on prehistoric life in Asia, even the world. In the museum and Sangiran site, complete information about the life patterns of early humans in Java can be obtained, which contributes to the development of sciences such as Anthropology, Archaeology, Geology, and Paleoanthropology. It was also at this Sangiran site that the lower jaw fossil of Homo erectus was discovered for the first time by a German archaeologist, Professor Von Koenigswald. More interestingly, in this Sangiran site area, traces of 2 million years old to 200,000 years old remains can still be found today. Relatively intact too. So that experts can string a red thread of a history that has occurred in Sangiran in sequence. This area can be used for practicum and research on: Evolution and Paleontology.
