The Biology Education study program is one of the study programs under the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education Department FKIP UNS.
1966
The Biology Education study program came from the Department of Life Sciences, Teaching and Exact Sciences (FKIE) Surakarta State Teachers’ Training College, which was established with the Decree of the Minister of National Education No. 316/SK.Pet/BRI/66 dated 23-1-1966.
1976
Through Presidential Decree No. 5 of 1976 dated March 1, 1976 the establishment of Sebelas Maret University in Surakarta was inaugurated with the Surakarta State Teachers’ Training College merged as part of the Sebelas Maret University.
1977
Based on the UNS Chancellor’s Decree no 4/P.1/000/1977 the new name for the Department of Life Sciences was changed to the Department of Biology.
1982
Through Presidential Decree No. 55 of 1982 regarding the smelting of the Faculty of Education (FIP) and the Faculty of Teaching Science (FKg) to become the Faculty of Teaching and Education (FKIP).
1984
Based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 39/DIKTI/Kep/1984 The Biology Department underwent a change in status and name to become the Biology Education Study Program under the MIPA Education Department. Currently the MIPA Education Department no longer exists, so it is directly under FKIP UNS.
2019
Biology Education Study Program was accredited by BANPT in 2019. Based on Decree of BANPT Ministry of National Education No 3190/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/VIII/2019 Biology Education Study Program received an A rating (Very Good), with a score of 375, which is valid from 27 August 2019 to August 27, 2024.
