INDIGOFERA COMPOSTING ACTIVITY
Batik Puspita as a place that produced ecoprint, batik, and Indigofera natural dyes had a batch of Indigofera leaf leftovers. If those were just laid, those would be the wastes. Hence, P2M UNS Team and Batik Puspita initiated to utilize the leftovers into organic compost.
Community development of making Indigofera leaf wastes compost was a program from P2M UNS Team (Dr. Muzzazinah, M.Si, Nurmiyati, S.Pd., M.Si, Kristiandi, S.S., M.A., Alanindra Saputra, S.Pd., M.Sc) through a community partnership program with the title “Pengolahan Limbah Ekstraksi Daun Indigofera longeracemosa sebagai Pupuk Alami di UKM Batik Indigo Natural Dye Yogyakarta”, that trained people in Srandakan to make organic compost from Indigofera leaf leftovers that were already used for Indigofera natural dyes at Batik Puspita production. The compost making activity was done in June until July 2023.
Indigofera leaf compost was made from minced dry Indigofera leaves, nitrogen, bran, and goat feses. All matters were mixed and anaerobically saved up to ten days. After ten days, compost could be packed for BIO-GO Brand and used for Indigofera crops or others.
