Posko Kompetisi is an annual competition held by Studi Ilmiah Mahasiswa (SIM) of Sebelas Maret University with theme “ Optimizing the Role of the Young Generation in the Implementation of the 2030 SDGs Sustainable Development Program ”. The selection process involves two stages 60% score from assessment of written works and 40% score from presenting papers from 5 finalists.
Biology Education students won 2nd place, namely Dina Kamilasari. Her Essay is entitled ” Bio-Mora: Smart Food Packing as a Detector of Borax Based on Porang Starch (Amorphophallus Muelleri) and Curcumin (Curcuma longa)” with the economic sub-theme, refers to goals Decent Work and Economic Growth. This smart food packaging can detect borax which is marked by changing in color to red-brown.
Background of this innovation started from anxiety over the problem of plastic waste which is difficult to degrade and leading to microplastics as the world’s first marine ecosystem threat. In addition, plastic cannot detect the presence of harmful substances, such as borax. Therefore, by utilizing the harvest of porang tubers and turmeric in Central Java which refers to Data from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) and with support from lecturers through the Basics of Scientific Writing course, this essay was finally completed properly.
