Surakarta, Indonesia — 2026. Seven students from the Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) have been selected to participate in the Sea-Teacher 2026 Program, an international teaching practicum initiative that provides pre-service teachers with the opportunity to gain teaching experience in an international educational environment.

The selected students are:

  3. Erning Widiya Puspita Ningrum
  4. Isma Nurita Ma’wa
  5. Kayla Selma Ardiyandari
  6. Kezia Angeline Kusdiharjo
  7. Maratun Sholihah

The Sea-Teacher Program is also recognized as an International School Field Experience (Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan/PLP Internasional). As part of the teacher education curriculum, school field experience is an essential component of professional preparation for students in teacher education programs. Through its international format, the program enables students to extend this experience beyond the national context.

Gaining International Teaching Experience

Participation in Sea-Teacher 2026 provides the seven students with an opportunity to develop their professional competencies through direct engagement with an international school environment. The experience is expected to strengthen their teaching skills while broadening their understanding of educational practices, classroom contexts, and learning cultures in different settings.

Beyond teaching practice, international field experience encourages students to develop cross-cultural communication, adaptability, collaboration, and global perspectives—competencies that are increasingly important for educators working in a rapidly changing educational landscape.

For Biology Education students, the experience also provides an opportunity to reflect on how biological concepts and science education can be taught across different educational and cultural contexts.

Implementing the Internationalization of Biology Education

The participation of seven students in Sea-Teacher 2026 represents an important implementation of the internationalization agenda of the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP UNS.

This commitment is further supported by the program’s international accreditation from ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics/Computer Science, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics). International accreditation provides an important foundation for the program to continuously strengthen the quality and international relevance of its academic processes, including opportunities for students to gain international learning and professional experiences.

International programs such as Sea-Teacher allow students to translate this international orientation into direct educational experiences. Rather than limiting internationalization to classroom learning, the program creates opportunities for students to engage with educational communities beyond Indonesia and develop competencies relevant to an increasingly interconnected professional environment.
