Biology Education Students of UNS Conduct Field Study atTaman Nasional Gunung Merapi and Krakal Beach
On May 12–13, 2025, students from the Biology Education Program at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) conducted a field study at Mount Merapi National Park and Krakal Beach, Yogyakarta. This academic activity was part of the coursework for two subjects: Diversity and Classification of Cryptogamae and Diversity and Classification of Invertebrates.
The field study aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of biodiversity through direct observation and data collection in natural environments. At Taman Nasional Gunung Merapi, students explored the diversity of cryptogams such as mosses, liverworts, and ferns. Meanwhile, at Krakal Beach, they examined various marine and coastal invertebrates.
By engaging in this field-based learning experience, students gained practical insights that complement theoretical knowledge, fostering a deeper appreciation of biological diversity and ecological systems.
