Students of the 2024 cohort carried out a three-day field study from 12–14 November 2025, diving into vertebrate diversity and plant classification across Yogyakarta and Bogor.

Day 1: Observations at Gembira Loka Zoo, where students identified and recorded animal species before traveling to Bogor. Some species were no longer available, but the experience allowed direct learning from a variety of animals.

Day 2: Students visited BRIN and were divided into wet and dry herbarium groups, learning specimen collection, preservation techniques, and botanical research workflows. The day ended with reflection and academic briefing.

Day 3: Fieldwork at Bogor Botanical Gardens, observing at least 15 plant species per plot, practicing species identification, and exploring one of Indonesia’s richest plant collections. Tasks were completed ahead of schedule, leaving time for further exploration.

These three days gave students hands-on scientific experience, from live vertebrates to preserved plant specimens, enriching their knowledge and skills in ecology and botany. Curious to join the next adventure? Become part of Biology Education UNS and explore the wonders of science! 🤩
