The Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret, successfully organized an Online Guest Lecture titled “Open Classroom and Teaching Multigrades: Lessons Learned from Finland Classroom Management Reform” on Friday, March 7, 2025. The event featured Prof. Kristof Fenivesy from Jyväskylä University, Finland, who delivered a lecture on “Creativity and Wellbeing in the Finnish School: Multigrade, Multidisciplinary, and Multimodal Classroom Management.”

The session provided valuable insights into multigrade teaching models, focusing on their prevalence, historical context, challenges, and benefits. Attended by 245 participants, including students, lecturers, and education practitioners, the lecture aimed to broaden perspectives on innovative classroom management and flexible teaching methods.

The event commenced with an opening speech by Dr. paed. Nurma Yunita Indriyanti, M.Si., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, who emphasized the importance of learning from Finland’s education system to enhance teaching quality in Indonesia. The discussion was moderated by Murni Ramli, S.P., M.Si., Ed.D., and concluded with an engaging Q&A session.

This guest lecture served as a platform for participants to gain new insights and adopt best practices in education, aligning with the growing need for individualized and inclusive learning environments.
